Gouache Paint or Designers Gouache is an opaque watercolour. The origins of gouache paint dates back to ancient Egypt when the pigment was bound with honey or Tragacanth gum to produce an opaque paint. Gouache is popular with professional designers for working on graphic reproduction of their illustrations. It is used for fine art paintings on its own or with transparent watercolours. The finest ranges of gouache paint achieve the opacity by loading with the maximum amount of pure pigment that the binder will allow. Other paints are manufactured opaque by adding white pigment to each colour. Apply gouache with a brush, ruling pen or airbrush.

Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache Paint

There is an amazing range of 85 colours in Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache. It has been produced by Winsor and Newton since 1935 and is considered to be one of the finest quality Gouache Paints available. The full spectrum of colours comes in 14ml tubes and blacks and whites are also available in 37ml tubes. Using a combination of finest quality pigments with a gum arabic binder, Winsor & Newton Gouache is the choice for many professional artists.

Schmincke Horadam Gouache Paint

There are 48 colours in the range of Schmincke Horadam Gouache, 39 of them are single pigment colours to give clean mixing results. Intense opaque colours are achieved without adding white. Only high quality artists’ pigments with a gum arabic binder are used.

Apply with a brush or airbrush. The extra fine pigments in these gouache paints can be applied using a 0.15mm fine airbrush. Dried colours can be rewetted for further use.

Daler Rowney Designers Gouache is made in England for the professional artist / designer. It has excellent covering power, tinting strength and a fine flowing texture. There are 87 colours in the range, available in 15ml tubes and a selection of sets.
